This painting was made after a photo by Harry Wijmands, a volunteer of the Fauna Working Group on the Hoge Veluwe.

The assignment for this painting was to create a still life.
This plant stood in the room where the painting club was active.

A booklet with many images of paintings, including one by Van Gogh, which was the inspiration for painting this.

This is from a photo of my friend sitting here on the bank of this reservoir in Bengal.

30 Mountain landscape in Nepal.
The first time Jakum was in Nepal, he made a pencil sketch, which he later used to create this painting at home. The mountain is Amaladablong, its highest peak is 6,812 meters.

31 Giethoorn, the Venice of the North.
When Jakum's friend was in the Netherlands, he visited various sights. This painting is the result of one such visit.

32 The windmills of Kinderdijk with approaching thunderstorms
This painting was also created after the visit to Kinderdijk. Only the thunderstorm is the painter's freedom.

33 Flowering heather in the Hoge Veluwe National Park.
Jakum comes to the Hoge Veluwe a lot, also with his friend.

This painting is actually a composite of several separate images in Nepal: a temple on the left, a ravine with a suspension bridge, a village, and mountains.

39 Blossom Avenue in Amersfoort.
Painted after Hendrick de Keyserlaan in Amersfoort, where this blossom grows in spring. The houses have been omitted to create a calmer image.

Jakum loves nature, close to it like the hedgehog depicted on a postcard.

As a birdwatcher, Jakum has always had a special bond with these creatures. Here are some of the special birds.

53 Street life in Dhanbad, India
Opposite the London Mall, stalls on flatbeds are set up on the street. Porters regularly pass by, carrying two baskets containing various goods. Cows and oxen roam the streets or lie down, chewing their cud.

54 A willow in the Vreugderijkerwaard, Zwolle
During an excursion with the Amersfoort Bird Watch, we came across this beautiful willow on the way back from the Waterloopbos.

59 The Havik with the tower Lange Jan in Amersfoort.
The discovery of a very old box of oil paint once inspired the painter to create an oil painting. The painting club leader, Joke, first opened all the tubes and created a color chart of all the colors.

Inspiration was a photo in the local newspaper “De Stad Amersfoort”.

Jakum ran into this rapper and hip-hop singer in Utrecht. What followed was a very animated conversation. After finding him online, this expressive photo surfaced.
